Trebles and Blues – The Tempo by Chris

This suave jazz record makes me want to don a sleek suit and fedora combo, go out- order a scotch rocks and eye beautiful women across the bar while leaning on a billiards cue.

Yeah, it’s that specific.

The whole album is out for free here. You can also order physical CD and stream the album on the band-camp page linked below.

Star Slinger‘s soulful and joyous music puts a smile on my face.

XXYYXX – About You by Chris

Such talent can and has come into fruition with the discovery of the ‘bedroom producer’ age of music. Age, wealth and status is no longer an issue, as demonstrated by the BRILLIANTLY (that’s right everyone! TAGGING THIS ONE AS BRILLIANT) chilled sounds of XXYYXX, an under-age talent out of Orlando Florida who; just like a Japanese baby playing Through the Fire and Flames on ukulele will shatter your dreams of ever being a good guitarist; his magnificent music will shatter any dreams you had of  ever being a super-talented producer (what an obscure reference, even for me).

About You was released late march earlier this year, but the video above came out a few days ago and is pretty fucking awesome itself. The rest of XXYYXX albums are also as consistently amazing and well worth checking out if you dig this lo-fi mellow electronica. Get on it so you can be all like “I liked him before he was cool” because seriously, people will cream themselves over this stuff.

Daedelus – Curtains Don’t Talk by Chris

I don’t like playing favourites, but if I absolutely had to- Daedelus would be a strong contender for my favourite producer in the L.A beat scene.

His creative musical works contain inspirational elements from a range of genres including hip-hop, classical do-wop and electronica. Curtians Don’t Talk was released earlier today as an exclusive free mp3 for Mixmag and it’s quality stuff! There’s also a neat interview where Daedelus ‘ quirky yet humble personality really shines.

Sorg – Remote by Chris

Much like the nouvelle vague du rock français scene that saw the rise of garage-rock bands like Naast and my beloved Plasticines in France, there’s a new breed of underground beat-makers in France seeing the creation of a new-wave of electronica and hip-hop.

Sorg is one such artist at the forefront of the emerging scene, joining artists such as Miqi O, Zerolex and Don Da None in bringing a blend of sample-based, electronic and acoustic instrumentation to trip-hop for a sound which, sounds just as uniquely French as French house does.

Check out Zerolex‘s new album which features both Sorg and Don Da None: http://zerolex.bandcamp.com/album/musique-r-apprivois-e

And if you like what you hear, check out Sorg‘s Preface EP, It’s an underground gem: http://sorg.bandcamp.com/

Flash Forest – One Night by Chris

I’ve been in bed all day coughing up my lungs surrounded by used tissues and bowls of hot soup. But Flash Forest to the rescue! One of my favourite local producers by far, I’ve been secretly saving his music for a little while now (although you may have noticed his appearence in the Fuck Melody Mixtape), waiting for the perfect moment to spring it on you.

One Night is that perfect moment, uploaded to Soundcloud just 10 minutes ago (at the time of writing), this is chilled-out trip-hop at it’s best. Fans of Thrupence and Polographia (both are also talented Aussie producers) will dig, and Oliver Tank fans might want to take a squizz at Flash Forest‘s remix of What Have I Become, which brings the mellow romantic sounds of Tank into a more upbeat (even danceable) arena.

But enough floundering around dropping the names of other Aussies, Flash Forest has truly hit a league of his own with One Night, which is why he’s the second artist this year to be inducted in to my Fuck the Radio Brilliance hall of fame. If you are a fan of good music, I insist you check all his stuff out (most of it he is giving away for free!):

Kyson – Forest Footsteps by Chris

Out of Berlin, Kyson‘s majestic productions contain a great deal of warmth and comfort. Forest Footsteps is one of several free beats he’s giving away on Soundcloud which have a refreshingly different, yet easily accessible tone and texture to the other sounds I’ve been listening to lately…

Vanilla – Proxy by Chris

I really love Vanilla, not only the ice-cream but the artist. With a stylistic nod towards artists like Dilla and even Flying LotusVanilla has produced an amazing trip-hop album (approaching it’s second birthday) called Chrometrails available for free off of his bandcamp page.

Proxy rolls along with smoothly flowing sample re-triggering and a beat you can bop your full body along to. It’s broken up with a neat chorus-like break section to give the track a more conventional structure and to avoid ubiquitous repetition in it’s composition.

There’s also two more recent free albums in addition to chrometrails, one of them, a 27-track long monster titled Highlife is also full of gems, however he’s been quiet in the past year or so. I very highly encourage you to check him out…

Oudies – Jijopers by Chris

Ok, after countless hours of Skyrim (I play for the music, I swear) I’m back to posting.

Oudies is from Chile, he produces some groovy hip-hop instrumentals with lots of interesting samples- from recordings of the ocean to old jazz records. I’m really digging his stuff at the moment.

This track Jijopers has one of those cool slap-rattle things which name escapes me at the moment punctuating the broken-beat that jangles along with some simplistically pretty synths. It’s a short one too, so if you are left wanting more- check out his soundcloud or his free album on bandcamp.
