Picture one day you are walking down the prettiest of streets, on the prettiest of days, and then you hear these even prettier sounds….. then…… words start falling from the sky… this is what will happen when you hear this, then you’ll sleepwell. forever

The prettiness of the keys, the undecipherable background noise… the melodic day dream that follows. Danke Schön Vertiqua.

REALSHIT is an aptly named beat from Cali beatmaker The Programmer. Mellow, yet slightly un-nerving… like the track art.

Su Na has gone and done a remix of Mincha‘s Lovin’. The track has already enjoyed some popularity thanks to SeventhhWonder‘s remix from earlier this month.

Chet Faker – Melt feat. Kilo Kish by Chris

This is going to be all over the blogosphere but how could I resist. Local superstar Chet Faker (who skyrocketed to stardom with his amazing cover of Blackstreet’s No Diggity) teaming up with the totally dope Kilo Kish (check out K+ if you missed the boat on her).

I caught a bit of Chet Faker‘s set at Splendour in the Grass (major Aussie music festival) and his fan-base ranged from drunk teens to groovy middle-aged couples. A testament to the brilliant accessibility of his music.

Duke Westlake – Re. Turn by Chris

Duke Westlake’s Re. Turn is an impressive 30 tracks large. Ranging from chillout to electronica to straight up hip-hop, this album contains an impressive variety of different sounds and samples, worth hitting play and kicking back to.

Released by the soulful hip-hop centred Mello Music Group (Oddisee, Apollo Brown), the whole thing only costs an easy $7.50 to be yours to keep, or just stream it on Bandcamp above.

Skymning – Cemeteries (Totems Remix) by Chris

Skymning is the Swedish word for twilight, but not of the Stephanie Meyer vampire variety. One could listen to Skymning‘s 1993’s (released just two weeks ago at time of writing) and still feel it’s emotive hooks and melodies make for a better love story than Meyer’s trash.

The EP includes four original tracks, then four remixes of said tracks. Cemeteries as an original already stood out to me with it’s dank and mellow sound, but Totems has mixed it up into a lof-fi future-beat piece wildly different to the original- you could almost dace to it.

Evenings – Lo-Vélo by Chris

Can you believe it’s October already? only two more months and we’ll be celebrating New Years all over again, another batch of birthdays, ups and downs and what-nots to look forward to.

It was last year, about a month ago, Evenings released his Latley LP to the world via bandcamp. It’s a beautiful blend of shoegaze, trip-hop and what-not. I’ve only just discovered it now and I can not believe it didn’t sooner; it’s a stand-out album, full of playful experimentation and emotional input. Lo-Vélo is the fourth track on the album, coming right after a short-eight second interlude of found-sound. As a music blogger, you know I love to write- but every now and then it’s best to just shut up and let the music speak for itself- this is one of those times.

Check out the rest of the album here.

Sorrow – 1988 by Chris

It’s happening, I’m giving Sorrow the BRILLIANT tag of BRILLIANCE here on Fuck the Radio for his exquisitely amazing 1988. The dark, melancholic sounds and smooth, flowing nature of the track come together to create an emotionally stimulating peice of electronic music. Everything hits the nail on the head perfectly here, from the percussive sounds to the ambient swirls of noise that drift on overhead. Not many tracks get tagged brilliant, but this one has thoroughly earned it.

Wabz – Some Day by Chris

Some VERY deep sounds from Melbourne-based Wabz, it seems the bass is bottomless- extending to unfathomably distant depths. The percussive sounds are organic and satisfyingly crisp sounding.  There’s some amazing atmospheric work going on here, worth checking out.

Patterns In Plastic – Sleepyhead (Sina. remix) by Chris

Woot woot, the second Fuck the Radio party was a success, with acts Yosemite, Flash Forest and Sub Dapper killing it on-stage with a surprise set by exciting up-and comers Willowbeats.

The hangover has subsided and the blogging must go on. To bring us all down from our parties induced-highs I present you an ethereal track of purified dreaminess.

Patterns In Plastic already had a wonderfully fulfilling sound on their hands, but for me it was Sina. who brought the wonderful  to marvellous with a divine remix of Sleepyhead.

I’ve been playing way too much Diablo 3 latley, so the entire list of of the adjectives I know at the moment is like looking up ‘evil’ in the Thesaurus. But if you were to look at the ‘antonym’ section of the thesaurus for ‘evil’, you’d probably find some neat descriptive words for this track…

…what a bizarre review…
