Good vibes last night. Let’s wash the house music from our system. Here’s some wonky beat stuff from L.A. Yogiloops has quite a prolific posting habbit on Soundcloud, this jazzy joint from 2 weeks ago gets the head nodding.
Mr. Len‘s Pity the Fool from late October 2013. Raw hip-hop- plays through with verses from the likes of Jean Grae and Murs (a host of others too).

You are dreaming and in your dreams theres a boat, a smooth beat and a good friend with you and you are rapping lines like ‘…life changing young brother like DMT, eye opening mothersucker like LSD…’ then you wake up. Unlike you ESESE (Eastern Seaboard Electric Soul Experience) have made their dreams reality. A Melbourne based collective of talented artists who reside in the cool summer breeze of Melbourne’s flourishing music scene, Hudson James Jnr and Hancoq are featured in the dreamy summer time visuals. AINTNO stopping a young brother who’s presence is reminiscent of DMT.

It’s with great pleasure that we premiere The Booth.
ABLE8 is a busy man, as Kassie found out when she sat down with him for our Lunch With ______ series. For this release he has teamed up with familiar collaborators MC Points (see: I’m Mad) and Benny Diction (see: Life Moves) to spawn a bass-fulled hip-hop jam. I choose the use of the word ‘spawn’ quite purposefully- there’s a real slick grimey feel present in The Booth‘s production that hits just right with Points and Benny D‘s respective flows. Don’t sleep on this. Give it a peep.

Matt Coops describes his music as a “gritty analog-y boom-bap revival of 90’s Hip-Hop”. With that flavour of rap instrumentals in mind, Matt Coops loops his samples and shifts the pitch of the heavy beats throughout loathing (a title referring to the mad flick ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’). The track holds a cool rawness to it that we sometimes miss out on in polished compositions.

There’s somewhat of a global effort behind this collaboration between local Melbourne hero Amin Payne, Germany-based Ben Bada Boom and French label Cascade Records. A well-deserved sexy video for a sexy song; pushing the limits of what the YouTube monkeys will allow.
Amin and Ben have a talent for making beats which stand on their own as ‘songs’ rather than simplistic instrumentals- really bringing the craft to a new level of creativity and musicianship.

I’ve suddenly found myself jumping head-first back into that jazzy brand of trip-hop which I love so much; Hubert Daviz dropped this smooth remix of Grand Puba‘s A Little of This around a year ago and I’m digging it.

Style plus ease seems to be the perfect formula for hip-hop production, and Lord Leonator has successfully achieved this in his latest album Dirtport. The Düsseldorf based producer is no stranger to this blog, but he just keeps on giving.
The first track of the album, Can You…? is an animated opener oozing with buoyancy and life, you can feel Leo‘s enthusiasm for music through his cuts and glitches. An energetic launch, this gets you right into the diverse set of raw head-bopping beats of the rest of the album.
