This bouncy number is a fun little jam from the mind of Joe Mousepad. The full EP is dropping soon courtesy of Rootnote Collective.

Valeda from U.S. based EASTGHOST can boast a whole lot of goodness for a track less than three minutes long (even though it comes close at 2:59). The best beats are ones that draw you in and lead you along till the end, and Valeda does just that- stuttering snappy samples and all.

Snuck this one out after it had been sitting in ‘private-only’ for awhile.

Future-beat junkies will dig this new release from Fresh Yo! label’s HLMSNRA.

Outlier Recordings has a catalogue filled with goodness. Jimmy Pé’s Fairy Tale EP is the label’s 55th release and includes two remastered versions of older tracks Mexico and Don Barzini (both really dope in their own right) with the fantastic new Fairy Tale remixed by Anthony Drawn, Je$u$, Mute Speaker and oddlogic. Do not ignore this release; it’s a great find.

Fuck the Radio Collective home boys Willow Beats have been super busy, returning from a sold-out national tour to support the release of their second EP (below).
I had a quick exchange with Narayana earlier,
There are some tracks on the EP that I started a year ago, some that came together in the last few weeks!
We tried much more experimenting with this EP. There are a-lot more recorded samples and things like the water drops in Elemental (recorded in my bath tub). A-lot more attention was paid to the individual sounds as well. I wanted every small aspect to be as good as I could make it.
The tour was sold out which was incredible! It was amazing to see the amount of support we have! You don’t really realise from Facebook etc but when you see support in numbers its incredible.

I know hectic glitchy experimental electronica might not be everybody’s jam, but I’m pretty pumped to have this new ltd. edition 7″ by Colossius zooming across the ocean towards my house.
Released as a celebration of independent label Fresh yO!‘s 2nd birthday; the digital download is pro bono and the vinyl is a measly 6 euros if you are interested- fans of Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares‘ wilder stuff will probably find the two tracks a-lot more accessible, and I’m sure Autechre fans will appreciate the wacked out hints of hip-hop in ISOL8.
CAS L.A. is a chaotic mash of electronic bleeps and bloops, it’s addictive and well-thought out. The surgically sliced up samples and bizarre synths come together in a syncopated rhythmic EXPERIENCE LIKE NO OTHER.
How’s that for a review? Pretty nifty eh? Just check it out; you either enjoy IDM or you don’t… kinda like licorice.

More or less a slight step-back from the usual swirling game-boy-style chiptune arpeggios and excitable dream-pop hyperactivity found in Hawaii94‘s previous releases; Cruise CTRL brinks on progressive-disco-esque thumping and sweeping filtered waves of sound. Something that anyone can groove to; especially when the familiar vocal swoons drift in over the top. A final highlight is when Hawaii94‘s glo-fi sound climaxes into a glitchy crescendo of fun-noise.

With only two releases readily available- it’s an exciting time for Aussie producer Sub Dapper to establish himself in the country’s burgeoning beat scene. Check out his stuff while you read the interview I did when I caught up with him earlier this week…
Tell us a little about your musical history? What did you grow-up listening to and how did you get to where you are now?
When I was a little kid basically all I listened to was The Doors and Frank Zappa, in high school when I learnt a bit more about music I was really into the heavier slightly electronic post-punk bands like The Blood Brothers and Test Icicles. I only really got into beats in 1st year uni when a friend played me some Samiyam which got me onto the brainfeeder label and yeah my mind was blown.
Your beats blend a-lot of different sounds from a range of genres- what’s the biggest challenge for you when putting a track together?
The biggest challenge would probably be trying to make my songs sound like “songs” if that makes any sense? before this project I was in a psych-thrash band so the whole electronic thing is all very new to me. To go from such a chaotic style to one that is (to some extent) much more organised has, and continues to be, a real challenge for me.
Oh my! ‘psych-thrash’, anywhere where I can listen to that project?
Unfortunately all the recordings were lost when my last computer’s hard drive corrupted (fuck you apple!) but I will hopefully be doing some thrashy stuff on the side in the near future though with some of my pals in Chicks Who Love Guns and Micheal Crafter (The band not the dickhead.)
What are the guilty pleasures in your musical taste?
Cant help but jive to Walking On the Sun by Smashmouth, ruined many an atmosphere with that baby.
You’ve got 2 tracks up on your Soundcloud; Is there a plethora of music hidden away on your computer that we can hope to see released or are you still playing around with the ‘Sub Dapper sound’?
There’s about 200 tracks on my poot at the moment but I would consider at least 180 of them to be my musical yellow brick road. Within the next month I should be releasing at least 3 more songs. I should mention the response has been pretty sweet so far; I was really scared to put anything out so yeah I’m really surprised!
Does the name ‘Sub Dapper’ mean anything?
‘Sub Dapper’ is a bit of a description of myself I guess. I am prone to wearing dress shoes and collared shirts (Looking ‘dapper’ as your stanky british grandma might say) but also prone to acting ‘inappropriately’ at times. Therefore “Sub Dapper” (also I think a “Sub Dapper Zapper” would rival Bart Simpson’s Go-Go Ray)
What do you listen to when you are not producing?
At the moment I’ve been really into Chinoiseries pt.2 by Onra and Sam Baker’s Album by Samiyam. Anything Oizo tickles my fancy and if I want to get down I love a bit of fidget house (really into Aniki at the moment.) Local artists ive been digging are Flume (Who sn’t?), Colourwaves, Willow Beats, Odsoc and Oskar.
Booze of choice?
Cheap red wine, “Mr. Big Mouth” if it’s on offer. Who can resist a pelican in a suit?

AceMo‘s Cuter EP is free off of his bandcamp and totally worth a listen.
There’s a swell hint of jazz mixed in with lo-fi electronica synths- it almost fits a verse-chorus style structure, as if the instruments are speaking amongst themselves. I haven’t heard anything like this is a-while.
The rest of the EP is equally as good, and he’s generous enough to be throwing it at you for free! So get on it!

yahnLOOKEpicard‘s name is as bizarre as the slimey bass-sound used in Bit Breaths. The only difference is that while I stress I’ve gotten the name wrong, we can all rest assured that the bass is just right.
Electronica when styled up in just the right way can sound almost ‘organic’, and Bit Breaths is as teeming with life as the swampy marsh I picture when I listen to it (yes it’s one of those posts where I say weird shit that makes no sense).
At the end of the day, yahnLOOKEpicard is absolutely on-point in crafting neat glitch-hop beats, and Bit Breaths is a perfect example of his aptitude.

I’m back with a ripper of a sunburn.
The end of January is nearing- time really flies! It’s been about a year since Cloud of Sounds posted this WIP version of Glitch 2 on Soundcloud. A neat 2-step style chip-tune… (chip-step?) Glitch 2 combines simple basslines with quick-moving arpeggios to create a vintage-video-game-meets-dubstep style sound.

My issue these days is that there are so many amazing artists out there putting out countless good songs- I have a tough time deciding who I want to write about!
Inaudible is without doubt deserving of a post- his music is brilliant. That’s right, he’s getting tagged as BRILLIANT. Welcome to the club Inaudible. I spent the past hour trying to decide which of your songs I was going to post until I finally gave up and picked at random. Echo Chamber is just that perfect level of heavy upbeat glitch-hop that I absolutely love. There are some crazy sounds in this track that suck you in, and on each subsequent listen it becomes clear just how much attention to small details goes into this music.
Echo Chamber does not need vocals to make it better- to the contrary, it’s actually too good for vocals… something every producer of this genre sound strive to achieve in my opinion.
Check out the Scathed Youth EP from Inaudible‘s bandcamp page too- it’s got a few more gems as equally as good as Echo Chamber.
