Yumi Zouma‘s Catastophe gets the remix treatment, transforming the dreamy indie-pop tune into that cruisy mid-tempo house vibe that András Fox does so well.

Do you have Sleepy Eyes?
‘Well within our very brains are submerged global tides, lunar moods from which no window however air tight can insulate us. Among us all the rhythms of the earth are closely linked to the rhythms of the brain. We humans may seem different… we are often unaware that we too have inherited these cycles… we have learned to time ourselves by clocks of our own making and to forget the beat of the earth….’

At a gig last night I was discussing one of the main reasons I gravitate towards trip-hop and future-beat is because it has the largest variety of sounds available to it- more so than any other type of music.
|w∆lla| C‘s T∆mborimOdyssey EP is a perfect example- weaving chopped up acoustic guitar, synths, percussion dancing through samba rhythms and intricate aural textures together into a straight up dose of head-nodding syrup. Drink up!

After listening to Eggglub’s Freaky Feeling (above) I knew that I wanted more. Fortunately, Chilean-based No Problema Tapes have answered my problem by bundling it with seven other tracks on the ΔKTR / Eggglub Split Mixtape. It’s mad.
Listen/buy it right here. It’s only three bucks. Chump change, right?

Desmond Cheese‘s beats are dope. Saw the Signs Pt. 2 is an instrumental cut off of a release he did with Mr Bill about a year ago, and it’s got all of the best ingredients: jazz, bass and essence of sex.
You could do just about anything with this music playing and it’d instantly give it a totally new groovy vibe. Seriously, you could be eating a taco or something, and some hottie could walk past you and think nothing of it. But if you were eating a taco with this music on the hottie would be dtf.
Enjoy 🙂

France is the home to most of my favourite artists… Daft Punk, Plasticines, Edgard Varèse… the list goes on. I don’t know what they put in the frog legs over there, but something makes them good at producing groovy music.
Take 7even Sun for example, who has put out two completely free and awesome electronic-jazz albums that are scrumptiously funky. With a third on it’s way on the 28th of March, get into him now so you can say you dug him since his older albums.
New New Jack is from the first EP titled Abstractly Concrete which was released November last year. Filled with a great mix of sample-based jazz and electronic funk, 7even shows that he possesses more musical ability than simply stringing a few sampled loops together without any creative attention to detail.
His second free instrumental EP titled Concretely Abstract was released late Feburary 2012, and builds upon the same production styles and sounds used in Abstractly Concrete (no surprise there, due to the similarity of the titles, think of it as all the same project). The third EP will be titled Abscrete and is due out on Number 24 Records later this month.

:O Another amazing group from the Netherlands! What do they put in the water there?! < Insert compulsory Netherlands marijuana joke here>.
Simply put, Knobsticker‘s Upside Down is deliciously funky- the drums are set in perfect balance between ‘cheesy 80s drum machine’ and ‘sexy disco music’ while the synths are filtered to perfection, guaranteed to make your eardrums feel all groovy. Honestly, I feel like my ears are having the best party- complete with disco ball, multi-coloured light up floor and spiked punchbowl. Also, something about talk-box vocals makes me want to grow an afro and have sex… I was going to backspace that last sentence but I think I’ll leave it.
Comfortably fitting in a neat musical area between Daft Punk and synth-pop groups such as Rat vs Possum– treat your ears with a special free download of one of the tracks off their new album:

My issue these days is that there are so many amazing artists out there putting out countless good songs- I have a tough time deciding who I want to write about!
Inaudible is without doubt deserving of a post- his music is brilliant. That’s right, he’s getting tagged as BRILLIANT. Welcome to the club Inaudible. I spent the past hour trying to decide which of your songs I was going to post until I finally gave up and picked at random. Echo Chamber is just that perfect level of heavy upbeat glitch-hop that I absolutely love. There are some crazy sounds in this track that suck you in, and on each subsequent listen it becomes clear just how much attention to small details goes into this music.
Echo Chamber does not need vocals to make it better- to the contrary, it’s actually too good for vocals… something every producer of this genre sound strive to achieve in my opinion.
Check out the Scathed Youth EP from Inaudible‘s bandcamp page too- it’s got a few more gems as equally as good as Echo Chamber.

Robo Booty fronts off the BRILLIANT slurp and giggle album from Opiuo. A really funky booming start to one of the funkiest, sexiest most satisfying albums I have listened to in awhile.
I was especially pleased to learn that Opiuo hails from my home city of Melbourne, Australia. His debut album Slurp and Giggle is an amazing blend of glitch, hip hop and straight up pure funky beats. I highly recommend you get your hands on his album- and anything else he releases.
Honey in the Heart begins as a pretty fluttering of synths and progresses into a happy funky electronica piece.
The whole album is a gem, give this song a try though, you won’t regret it:
