Yumi Zouma‘s Catastophe gets the remix treatment, transforming the dreamy indie-pop tune into that cruisy mid-tempo house vibe that András Fox does so well.

I don’t usually recommend mixes but it’s a Sunday and this one is too good. Casey Borchert, hailing from Minneapolis in the U.S of A has presented us with a gorgeous Arctic Dub mix on Neonlogic World Radio. It’s an absorbing ambient/techno-dub affair. Excellent for thinking, studying and sleeping. Put it on and get to it.

Check out Borchert’s SoundCloud and the Arctic Dub Website.

Dylan Michél – Touched By An Angel EP by kassiefunkeer

Also known as WooshieDylan Michél‘s latest work Touched By An Angel (more like touched by a musical genius) is fresh! Wooshie has always represented Melbourne music in an awe-inspiring fashion, and continues to kick the standards up a notch under a new alias (his actual name). There are elements of house, footwork and a bunch of other genres audible in the set of six tracks, however, to succinctly label this EP in terms of genre would be to downplay its artistic value.

EASTGHOST – Valeda by Chris

Valeda from U.S. based EASTGHOST can boast a whole lot of goodness for a track less than three minutes long (even though it comes close at 2:59). The best beats are ones that draw you in and lead you along till the end, and Valeda does just that- stuttering snappy samples and all.

UTR90 has a few tracks floating around on the interwebs for the digi-diggers to find. This four minute trip is a great introduction to some of his best work.

SxmGdy – Mndfucks. (Brainwavves) by imogenenebyl

Mndfucks. represents the funk-ish hip-hop influence found in all SxmGdy‘s madly smooth mixes. You can almost visualise the reverberating sound resonate in your pineal gland like the green beam of light shown in the track art. Definitely hit up more of SxmGdy and play it loud.

サンクチュアリ  which translates to Sanctuary in Katakana, combines soft vocals and some psychedelic electric guitar chords which create an overall ethereal vibe to the track. Rareware works from Kentucky and mixes many Japanese inspired tracks which explore dreamy and sometimes video-game-like sound vibrations. This particular tracks reminds me of ‘Teletubies’ emerging from the soil.

Kushrenada – RSOD/Wet Dreams by imogenenebyl

Kushrenada blends a creepy-circus tune into a chilled out beat throughout RSOD/WET Dreams. If you close your eyes and listen you’ll find yourself in a dreamscape surrounded by Japanese amine girls (Kushrenada does admit to being a yuri enthusiast in his soundcloud description… and if you don’t know what that means, best not google it). The mysterious stranger/producer/dj as he calls himself is based “out of Texas sorta” and keeps himself mostly anonymous.

The Network – When Ur Down [EP] by alex

The Network
, pseudonym of beat-maker Jesse Rintoul, recently dropped his first EP – after listening not once, not twice, but thrice, my verdict is in: it’s beautiful.

Presented as a 15-minute continuous mix, When Ur Down seamlessly blends between tracks, enveloping them in dark ambience and the familiar vinyl distortion you’d hear in a Burial releaseMore than anything, the sense of atmosphere Rintoul evokes is so tangible and real that you won’t have any trouble wandering off into the deep, dark recesses of your consciousness.

If you’re anything like me, it’ll keep resonating even after you’ve stopped listening – that said, given the nature of this release, the saying “you get out what you put in” couldn’t be more applicable. Take your time with it.

Speaking of… if you haven’t already started listening, do yourself a favour; sit down in the comfiest seat you can find, plug in your headphones, close your eyes and put it on.  This EP works in all the right ways – it’s visceral, emotional and a true reflection on the day and age in which we live.

In other words, soak up The Network’s When Ur Down; it’s something you won’t forget any time soon.

youngteam – Headspace by Chris

I had been sleeping on this lush release from youngteam, released a month ago, Headspace sounds like the result of throwing bunch of great sounding synths, vocal snippets, percussive sounds and guitar into some sort of big musical cyclotron (if only it was that easy). Also it’s in 432hz tuning- (read this if you want to know more about that).

Head over to youngteam‘s soundcloud for more.
