My issue these days is that there are so many amazing artists out there putting out countless good songs- I have a tough time deciding who I want to write about!
Inaudible is without doubt deserving of a post- his music is brilliant. That’s right, he’s getting tagged as BRILLIANT. Welcome to the club Inaudible. I spent the past hour trying to decide which of your songs I was going to post until I finally gave up and picked at random. Echo Chamber is just that perfect level of heavy upbeat glitch-hop that I absolutely love. There are some crazy sounds in this track that suck you in, and on each subsequent listen it becomes clear just how much attention to small details goes into this music.
Echo Chamber does not need vocals to make it better- to the contrary, it’s actually too good for vocals… something every producer of this genre sound strive to achieve in my opinion.
Check out the Scathed Youth EP from Inaudible‘s bandcamp page too- it’s got a few more gems as equally as good as Echo Chamber.

Aside from having one of the coolest photos ever for the cover of their album Eye Contact, New York experimental/lo-fi electroclash outfit Gang Gang Dance recently stopped by my home city of Melbourne for a gig- and I’m ashamed to say I couldn’t make it 😦
Fans of Bjork, The Knife and perhaps even Animal Collective (especially those that have indulged in member Panda Bear‘s solo works) will find familiar-yet distinctly different sounds in Gang Gang Dance‘s work- across the whole Eye Contact record there’s a slight taste of Indian pop, African rhythms and even UK r&b, but only very subtly- the same way you get that odd metallic taste in your mouth before it rains.
For posting today I’ve picked the album’s closing track Thru and Thru. It’s very up-beat, what I can imagine Indian synth-pop would sound like if it was given a western re-hash. Quite an interesting listen, I must admit, it’s somewhat difficult to get into without the rest of the album to support it- but if you are a Bjork fan I’d say it’d be a little more accessible to you.
Also, is it just me or do they use the same samples as Infected Mushroom‘s Heavyweight at one point?

06R released Air just 15 days ago at the time of writing. It’s an upbeat fusion of melodic trance and progressive house- two genres that I have never really enjoyed on their own, but 06R has got me interested with Air.
It opens with a break-beat-style percussion pattern, and gradually (or as the genre would suggest- porgressivley, harhar) builds into a trance-like melodic dance track.
Also, I like 06R‘s logo.
I’ve removed the download as 06R is submitting Air to labels. Check out his Soundcloud!

My laptop blew up so I’ve been unable to post anything until I get everything back in order… Luckily I backed up everything literally by complete chance a mere 2 days before it happened, so I lost nothing important. Just means my blogging (and my own music production) has been on hold (and will remain so until I get a new laptop).
I can however recommend this indie label I discovered putting out some neat downtempo/house/electronica stuff. I highly recommend you check some of their stuff out.

Cabin Fever is an acid jazz track with a steady latin-esque beat that could have you dancing, or alternatively sitting back sipping cocktails.
The choice is yours… because Cabin Fever doesn’t mind either way.

So Warp Records are looking to have quite a big release on their hands with Rustie‘s Glass Swords coming out on the 10th.
Artists Skream, Joker, Bibio and many more have already given it praise, and as Rustie‘s twitter following sky-rocketing to over 5,000 about 18 hours ago, you can watch the hype growing.
Ultra Thizz was given a special limited edition 12-inch vinyl release ahead of the album, with another track Dreamzz which is only available on the vinyl.
Here’s Ultra Thizz for your regular radio-fuckery:
Now that Glass Swords is out you can find it here:

Pretty Lights is easily one of my favourite artists of recent times, even though he’s been around for quite awhile, I discovered his music later than I would have liked to.
Another artist who I wish I could simply post the entire discography of, Pretty Light‘s production quality and sound is something even the creme de la creme of electronic artists could be envious of. I’m very excited to see him live in December. Not only is his music brilliant, but he is generous to give it away for free. I insist you visit the website:

And of-course, a FTR download:

Robo Booty fronts off the BRILLIANT slurp and giggle album from Opiuo. A really funky booming start to one of the funkiest, sexiest most satisfying albums I have listened to in awhile.
I was especially pleased to learn that Opiuo hails from my home city of Melbourne, Australia. His debut album Slurp and Giggle is an amazing blend of glitch, hip hop and straight up pure funky beats. I highly recommend you get your hands on his album- and anything else he releases.
