Moving away from chillwave today, this track by Finji is more loud and upbeat.
Reminding me off Mu-Gen‘s Fizzdom which I posted way back in 2010, Do Something is powered through by driving hi-hats and an unrelenting bassy kick drum. There’s no easy way to describe it, and I’m going to avoid being too verbose in this post… so give it a download and see what you think 🙂
He’s also giving out his music free on his soundcloud page:

Sick Lebowski is another undiscovered-as-yet producer from The Netherlands.
Disappear Into Your Dreams is a cool fusion of bassy-electronic trip-hop with a clear hip-hop rhythmic influence. Creepy vocals are a must as always with this type of track, and they are pulled off with flawless implementation in this case.

In a way, I’ve had Skream on Fuck the Radio before nas part of the magnificent Magnetic Man trio with Benga and Artwork.
Midnight Request Line is worlds apart from Flying Into Tokyo however. Many hail it as the dubstep tune that really sparked the fire. Back when dubstep was much more chilled, Midnight Request Line‘s melody haunts over a deep rhythmic percussion line all topped up with Skream’s perfectly crafted sub-bass. Suitably grimey, if the world had music everywhere, this is something you’d hear in a dark alleyway at midnight. I’m tagging it in the ‘brilliant’ section too!

There’s something slightly perturbing about this track. It could be the deep bass that drones on throughout, or it could be the subtle, ringing noises that haunts you as you listen. Either way, the juxtaposition between the filtered sections and break-beat dubsteppy elements make this an interesting listen. If it doesn’t win you over at first, give it some time and listen again… at night… on your own in the dark.

Pretty Lights is easily one of my favourite artists of recent times, even though he’s been around for quite awhile, I discovered his music later than I would have liked to.
Another artist who I wish I could simply post the entire discography of, Pretty Light‘s production quality and sound is something even the creme de la creme of electronic artists could be envious of. I’m very excited to see him live in December. Not only is his music brilliant, but he is generous to give it away for free. I insist you visit the website:

And of-course, a FTR download:

Came on shuffle in iTunes and I have no idea where/how/when I got this track, but man is it beautiful.
Deep bass accompanies these foreign sounding vocal parts, mixed in nicely with large filter-sweeping pad synths. Some native drum sounds give it an exotic feel, while the underlying subs give it a clear dubstep influence. Full quality download too, so it’s a real treat if you have a decent sound system.
Phaeleh – Healing (feat. Indi Kaur)

Dubstep doesn’t have to be about making basslines filthier than your shit taking a shit. This track will get your head bobbing without saturating a synthesizer sound to oblivion.

Chilled dubstep. Deep bass, almost ambient. Wait for that bass to come in at the 40 second mark.
Like entering a room where everything is in slow motion.
