The last of the 4 Aphex Twin tracks displays his acid brilliance in all it’s glory, with Cock-Ver 10.
Acid drums, acid basslines, excitement. I would list it under brilliance, but it’s not quite as accessible to virgin ears. I know it took me awhile to adjust to these sounds, but the experience is rewarding. Every listen is different. Give it a chance and I promise you’ll thank me later. And when you’re done, go back and listen to Avril 14th (you’ll find it a few posts on this blog back) immediately after, it tops it all off perfectly.

Aphex Twin works under his other alias AFX to bring you this mix of Seefeel/Peacock’s Time to Find Me.
Actually his 2nd remix of the track, (the other can be found here) it is a great listen. The drums hold that gritty acid sound while the rest of the tune carries an ambient relaxing feel about it. Soaring female vocals can almost be made out to be saying ‘time to find me’.
Something foreign, yet familiar, a perfect way to ease yourself into Aphex Twin‘s sound.

Continuing our ease into Aphex Twin from yesterday’s post, we have the seemingly impossible to pronounce track- ‘Jynweythek‘
Still not quite acid, still very mellow, Jynweythek introduces your ears into a new concept of sound. Your brain has been so finely adjusted by the radio and the like to hear things in-tune and Jynweythek subtley challenges that.
By no means is it unbearably out of tune, yet Aphex Twin’s use of a subtle yet distinctly odd ‘twang’ to the sound makes for this humble tune to be an interesting listen.

Aphex Twin is one crazy mofo, and his music can be a little difficult to get into, unless you ease yourself in slowly- like a hot spa.
So over the next few days I’m going to post a just a few tracks, progressively more and more acidic until you’re raving on LSD with no pants on to crazy jungle-like drums and 303 basslines.
But let’s start easy. It’s hard to believe Avril 14th is by the same twisted being that created Come to Daddy. This peaceful piano piece will NOT put you to sleep, but have you relax deeply in your chair, eyes closed without a worry in the world.
Tomorrow: Let’s get your ears prepared for something a little more acidy.

Exams are starting soon so I’m taking a little break from the daily posting on the blog. I’ve put together a mixtape that should satisfy your musical needs between now and when I’m back though. Give it a download, you’ll love it and I’ll love you.

Daedelus would have to be one of my favorite artists at the moment. His personality is as quirky as his music. Reminiscent of Aphex Twin meets The Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland, his live performances with the monome are so great I’ve posted a link to one as a bonus.

Autechre are an acid electronica act that have been around since the 80s.
Today I have their beautiful track Slip which is reminiscent of Aphex Twin. I also have a bonus download of a quirky interview with them.
