There’s somewhat of a global effort behind this collaboration between local Melbourne hero Amin Payne, Germany-based Ben Bada Boom and French label Cascade Records. A well-deserved sexy video for a sexy song; pushing the limits of what the YouTube monkeys will allow.
Amin and Ben have a talent for making beats which stand on their own as ‘songs’ rather than simplistic instrumentals- really bringing the craft to a new level of creativity and musicianship.

Outlier Recordings has a catalogue filled with goodness. Jimmy Pé’s Fairy Tale EP is the label’s 55th release and includes two remastered versions of older tracks Mexico and Don Barzini (both really dope in their own right) with the fantastic new Fairy Tale remixed by Anthony Drawn, Je$u$, Mute Speaker and oddlogic. Do not ignore this release; it’s a great find.

Fuck the Radio Collective home boys Willow Beats have been super busy, returning from a sold-out national tour to support the release of their second EP (below).
I had a quick exchange with Narayana earlier,
There are some tracks on the EP that I started a year ago, some that came together in the last few weeks!
We tried much more experimenting with this EP. There are a-lot more recorded samples and things like the water drops in Elemental (recorded in my bath tub). A-lot more attention was paid to the individual sounds as well. I wanted every small aspect to be as good as I could make it.
The tour was sold out which was incredible! It was amazing to see the amount of support we have! You don’t really realise from Facebook etc but when you see support in numbers its incredible.

Fuck the Radio Collective homeboy Leaks went quiet for a bit while travelling.
Good to have him back. This track gets my BRILLIANCE tag.

Fuck the Radio Collective‘s Sub Dapper has an EP on the way. About a week ago he dropped this to tide us over while we wait.
Girls soothes on the surface, but intrigues with intricate glitching and constant progressive evolution. Not one part of this track is boring. It gets my BRILLIANT tag (the first track of the year to do so!)
For more brilliance, check out last year’s tape.

Eleven groovy beats by Sydney producer Spoonty have made their way onto bandcamp for a new release called Feels. Quite a well-polished production overall, this is no mere collection of rough ‘n raw beats with none of the tracks falling below three minutes; these are all fully fleshed out grooves to get down to.
Something about this album reminds me of the style of Bonobo, which can never be a bad thing. Heaps sings out with immaculate vocal chops while Forest makes use of a smoothly carved up flute. Quite frankly, the samples fit perfect like honey and lemon- while the beats are as smooth as Morgan Freeman’s voice after a nice honey and lemon tea. The whole thing is musically delicious experience.

Terracotta Blue, producer from Washington DC, transmits his enthusiasm for chill wave and trip hop by creating his own unique fusion of heavenly samples and delicate drums. His latest album Shine Again is a collection of radiant beats that fill my soul with love.
Other Eden, the last and certainly not least track of Shine Again, harmoniously completes this blissful album through its modulating dynamics. The heart-warming track takes you on a luminous and joyful voyage through layers of satisfying sounds. Constantly developing, this beat evolves from minimal to decorative, and then to the pleasant repetition of a woodwind descending perfect fourth (oh so satisfying). The tension is re-heightened through a rousing crescendo of percussion until the snare sneaks in and truly hits the spot. This kind of drop had me gasping and laughing in awe of its pure perfection all the way to the smooth fade out.
The whole 10-track album is available for a pick-your-price download on Bandcamp.

Style plus ease seems to be the perfect formula for hip-hop production, and Lord Leonator has successfully achieved this in his latest album Dirtport. The Düsseldorf based producer is no stranger to this blog, but he just keeps on giving.
The first track of the album, Can You…? is an animated opener oozing with buoyancy and life, you can feel Leo‘s enthusiasm for music through his cuts and glitches. An energetic launch, this gets you right into the diverse set of raw head-bopping beats of the rest of the album.

Florida-based Amable has been dishing out the wonky future-beats for a-while now and he’s stepping up his game to vinyl.
Not just any vinyl though; the man has a dream- nearly as big as Martin’s- for the coolest looking transparent blue 7-inch, cut to the edges with two beats per side. It is all being funded via a Kick-stater project, and you can pledge towards the release for the promise of a copy in-return.
Check out our interview with Amable from a-while back.
