On my latest label-digging frenzy I found Deep Heads – a UK-based dub label. Their latest release, the two-track debut EP from Audialist, is something you should indulge in immediately.
Stream the album (or buy it) here. For more releases, check out Deep Heads on Bandcamp.

Matt Coops describes his music as a “gritty analog-y boom-bap revival of 90’s Hip-Hop”. With that flavour of rap instrumentals in mind, Matt Coops loops his samples and shifts the pitch of the heavy beats throughout loathing (a title referring to the mad flick ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’). The track holds a cool rawness to it that we sometimes miss out on in polished compositions.
Treat yourself to some trap, courtesy of De’Kcuf – the second duo I’ve written about recently (here’s the first).
These two 21 year old producers come straight out of Sydney, Australia and opened for Sinjin Hawke for his recent gig at Chinese Laundry.
Check more of their trap sounds here.

サンクチュアリ which translates to Sanctuary in Katakana, combines soft vocals and some psychedelic electric guitar chords which create an overall ethereal vibe to the track. Rareware works from Kentucky and mixes many Japanese inspired tracks which explore dreamy and sometimes video-game-like sound vibrations. This particular tracks reminds me of ‘Teletubies’ emerging from the soil.

Gordy Micheal invites your mind on a warped quest through aural space with his ambient beats. Comfort evokes the true feelings of being comfortable and allures you into a chilled-out mood. The soft piano brings an early 1920’s jazz vibe to the piece. No longer than 2 minutes, his tracks are short yet golden.

Scruffnuk Dust brings us some relaxed vibes to escape to with the appropriately titled Escape. You can’t help but bounce your head along to this one. Crank it loud and let the vibrations flow through your mind and body.

Kappah is an Italian producer who put out a short 4-track release with Fresh Yo! label last month. He also appeared on the Beatfonics Crew mixtape I recently posted about. This new track Zombie Jesus Beat hits rough, check it.
For their seventh volume The Beatfonics Crew wanted to explore the world of Blaxploitation movement, an African-American film genre that emerged in the United States in the ‘70s, but also a music genre, given the significant quantity and quality of soundtracks recorded and the high level of the composers.
I love me a concept album- especially a concept beats album. This Beatfonics Crew mix-tape is dope.

So very tempted to make this blog all about the dope shit coming out of Melbourne, there’d be more than enough to post about.
Ex-Bristol turned Melbourne local Titus 12 had his Karnak EP unleashed by Uncomfortable Beats just before our long weekend. Filled with both familiar sounds and what appear to be some quirky field recordings, the production behind Karnak is a tight mix of dub and future beat.

Fuck the Radio Collective picked up Melbourne’s FLOW around 9 months ago after peeping an amazing live set. His first album has finally hit the Internet for your listening pleasure. If described in one word? I’d use something like ‘trippy’. Melbourne is surely delivering on the electronic beat goodness lately.

Future-beat junkies will dig this new release from Fresh Yo! label’s HLMSNRA.
